Deceased Estate Auction

This Deceased Estate Contents Auction sale at the residential property in Armadale** was on Saturday 24th October and had something of interest to many different groups of buyers.

The 650 lots were auctioned “live” with SEVEN hours continual selling to clear the site of items of commercial value so that the real estate can be sold.

It included all remaining Home & Garden Shed Contents PLUS  the deceased persons’ Registered Vehicles (’04 Commodore Lumina station wagon, ’99 Nissan Navara diesel tray back utility, ’11 Vespa GTS Super 300i scooter, ’96 Suzuki TU250X motorcycle and a useful “6 x 4” box trailer) – all of which had been “driven” by our staff.

The deceased was a former Royal Navy person and amongst his eclectic interests was collecting naval & other maritime artifacts.

He also collected fictional and non fiction books about things maritime particularly relating to both World Wars.  War on land and in the air was also among his interests.

A feature of the estate’s chattels was a HUGE personal library  – filling shelves covering a full wall, from floor to ceiling. This library reflected his eclectic interests and our team has checked every book and did what we could to place books into groups to appeal to individual buyers.

There are also numerous ANTIQUARIAN FICTION AND NON FICTION books.

The library room also included some 450 or more LP records which have again been put into themed groups.

In addition, we also lotted some 10″ & 12″ 78s and some 45s.

Lots 198 to 307 include brief descriptions of the subject matter of the various groups of books and records.

Catalogue lot descriptions aim to describe the items available & buyers were urged to print the downloadable catalogue to ID lots that could be of interest to you. Then look through the images of (almost all) the lots.

Of special interest to many buyers was the ceramic items including the older traditional “brands” and several sets of numbered plates. There are also several artworks – some with a nautical theme & items with an Asian theme.

Most of the auction lots were not subject to a GST component although the 16.5% buyer’s premium included GST.

Potential buyers that had reviewed the catalogue of lots /  looked at the photographs and still required more information were invited to ‘phone 040 222 6444
